Dental Sealants and Fluoride Treatment in NE Calgary

Dental sealants are protective coatings placed on the chewing surfaces of the molars, the large back teeth. These surfaces have deep grooves where food and bacteria can collect and where a toothbrush has trouble reaching. A sealant covers the grooves to help protect the tooth from decay.

Fluoride is a mineral that helps strengthen tooth enamel. We apply professional fluoride during check-ups and give advice on fluoride products you can use at home.

1. Your child has an exam and cleaning, so we can see which teeth would benefit.
2. For sealants, the tooth is cleaned and dried before the sealant is applied to the chewing surface.
3. The sealant is hardened so it stays in place.
4. For fluoride treatment, we apply fluoride to your child's teeth during the visit.
5. We give you advice on brushing, flossing and fluoride products at home.
